What is Checkobot?
Checkobot is an AI tool that analyzes an image and tells you whether it shows signs of being generated or manipulated with AI, so you can vet photos before you accept, publish or rely on them. You upload a file or paste a link and get a verdict naming the detector that fired and the reason. It is built by SpoofSense (Chakshu.ai Private Limited).
What is Checkobot used for?
It is an AI image detector for anyone who receives photos from other people: identity verification (KYC) and onboarding teams, content moderators, dating apps, marketplaces, insurers reviewing claims, newsrooms doing fact-checking and HR teams hiring remotely. It also flags images that carry signed Content Credentials declaring them AI-made.
How does Checkobot detect AI images?
It runs two detectors. The first looks at the whole image and runs every time. The second is a face forensics model that only kicks in when there is a clear face and looks for face swaps, AI face edits and synthetic faces. The result is either "AI", naming the detector that fired and why, or "No AI detected". Checkobot never claims a photo is real, does not tell you which generator was used and does not publish a single accuracy figure.
It accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF, and rejects images under 256 pixels on the short side, heavily compressed JPEGs and files over 20 MB. Every result records the model and rules version and can be shared as a result card. For integrations there is a REST API with a check endpoint that returns the verdict, scores and face position.
What happens to images uploaded to Checkobot?
Checks run without an account are processed in memory and discarded; Checkobot keeps a SHA-256 fingerprint along with the verdict and scores. Paid accounts keep a history that can be switched off, and sharing a link with the photo stores a resized copy with metadata stripped for 30 days.
Checkobot pros and cons
On the plus side, it explains which detector flagged the image, covers face manipulation as well as fully generated images and offers an API for high-volume review. On the downside, it does not handle video yet (you need to grab a still frame), it is not meant for audio, liveness checks or ID documents, the interface is English-only and a "No AI detected" result does not prove an image is authentic.

Checkobot FAQ
What is Checkobot?
An AI image detector from SpoofSense that combines whole-image analysis with a face forensics model and tells you which detector fired.
Is Checkobot free?
You get a few checks a day with no sign-up, and paid options cover higher volumes and API access. Details are in the pricing section.
Is Checkobot available in Spanish?
The website and results are in English. It can analyze any photo regardless of language, because it works on the image rather than on text.
Does Checkobot detect face deepfakes?
Yes. Its face forensics model looks for face swaps, AI face edits and synthetic faces whenever the image shows a clear face.
Can Checkobot confirm a photo is real?
No. The result is either "AI" or "No AI detected"; it never claims an image is authentic and does not say which AI generator was used.
Which images does Checkobot accept?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF files at least 256 pixels on the short side and up to 20 MB. Heavily compressed JPEGs are not accepted.
Can Checkobot analyze videos?
Not yet. To check a video, grab a still frame and upload it as an image. It is also not designed for audio, liveness checks or ID documents.
Does Checkobot have an API?
Yes. Its REST API has a check endpoint that returns whether the image is AI, which detector fired, the reason, the scores and the face position.
What are some Checkobot alternatives?
AI or Not, AI Image Detector.info and AnyImageDetector also spot AI-generated images; all three are on GptZone.
Does Checkobot store my images?
Checks without an account are processed in memory and discarded, keeping only a SHA-256 fingerprint with the verdict. History on paid accounts can be turned off.
