Shopify Sidekick

Shopify Sidekick is the AI assistant Shopify builds into the admin of every store. It replaces the old Shopify Magic brand, whose page now redirects to Sidekick, and brings the platform's AI features together in one chat: copywriting, image editing, analytics and store setup.

What it does for your store

Shopify pitches it as a launch team in one tool. It acts as a designer that turns your store idea into a theme, a photo editor that upgrades phone shots, a writer of SEO-friendly product descriptions, tech support for connecting your domain and a marketer that drafts social posts and email campaigns.

The key difference is direct access to your store data. Sidekick sees your orders, products and reports and can take action in the admin, whereas an outside assistant can only give general advice. It also follows staff permissions, so each team member only reaches the data and features their account allows.

It is most useful for people opening their first store who want help choosing a theme, adding products and getting to the first sale, and for small teams without an analyst or a copywriter. It works in multiple languages based on your store settings, so you can ask in the language you prefer.

Pricing

Sidekick has no separate fee: it is included with your Shopify plan, though features and usage limits vary by plan. What you pay for is the Shopify subscription, which starts with the Basic plan and offers a 3-day trial followed by 3 months at $1 a month. To start, open the admin and click the purple glasses icon.
