What is Monica?
Monica is a multi-model AI assistant that gives you OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models from a single account to chat, write, translate, research and create images, built for professionals, students and teams who want AI on hand on any web page without switching tabs.
How does Monica work in the browser?
As a Chrome and Edge extension, it opens a sidebar with Cmd+M or Ctrl+M on any site. A smart toolbar explains, translates or summarizes whatever text you select, and a writing assistant drafts or rewrites inside forms, Gmail and Outlook emails, or posts on X, LinkedIn and Facebook. It also shows AI answers next to Google results and summarizes YouTube videos with timestamps.
What else can Monica do?
- ChatPDF plus bilingual translation of PDFs and web pages.
- Side-by-side answers from several models to the same prompt.
- AI agents for deep research, slide creation, an image studio and a browser operator.
- Image and video generation with third-party models, plus 80+ writing templates.
It runs on the web, as an extension and on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and ships Monica Code, a coding assistant for VS Code and JetBrains.
Monica pros and cons
Pros: one account replaces separate logins for each AI model, and a keyboard shortcut brings AI to any website. Cons: basic daily access is tight, advanced models and agents draw on a monthly allowance that heavy users burn through quickly, accounts are strictly personal, and giving an extension access to every page means trusting its privacy policy.
