What is Tana?
Tana is an AI meeting tool that listens from your computer, produces a live transcript and lets your own agents, such as Claude or ChatGPT, work during the call with the context of what is said and what is on the shared screen.
How does Tana work in a meeting?
The desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux captures Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom audio locally, so no bot joins and no extra guest appears. While you talk, your agent can look up data, update a spreadsheet, move issues in Linear or draft a follow-up email, and it only acts once you approve.
What does it offer beyond transcription?
- Context graph: every meeting links people, projects, customers and docs so you can find them later.
- Suggested updates to docs and projects after each call.
- Recognition in 60+ languages, including mixed-language meetings.
- Shared team spaces, an MCP server, a public API and full export.
It is a separate product from Tana Outliner, the company's supertag-based note-taking app, which remains available on its own.
Tana pros and cons
Pros: no visible bot to put attendees off, it reuses agents you already run with their connectors, and it offers EU data hosting, DPAs and a commitment never to train models on your meetings. Cons: it requires the desktop app, the entry tier keeps only 30 days of searchable history, and its real value depends on already having a Claude or ChatGPT account connected.
