macOS app that shows which user journeys a pull request changes, with flow diagrams tied to the code and a review run by your own Claude Code.

    What is logPhase?

logPhase is an AI code-understanding tool from logPhase UG in Berlin that reads a pull request and explains it as a set of user journeys, each a flow diagram linked to the method and lines that changed, so developers and reviewers can grasp a change written by a colleague or a coding agent in minutes.

What is logPhase and what is it for?

The product starts from Peter Naur's 1985 essay on programming as theory building: the real output of programming is the team's understanding, not the code. When agents write code at machine speed, that understanding falls behind. logPhase rebuilds it one pull request at a time, opening each change on its blast radius instead of the raw diff. In its public example, dotnet/eShop PR #940 changed two files and three user journeys, and the review finished four minutes and 20 seconds after analysis started.

    How does logPhase work?

Paste a pull request link. The app clones the repository, analyzes both sides of the change with language-native parsers (Spoon for Java, Kotlin compiler PSI, Roslyn for C#, Pyright for Python and ts-morph for TypeScript), then starts your own Claude Code in a terminal you can watch. You get step-by-step journeys: select a step, press Code, and see the method and the branch that decide it. The call graph shows which other journeys share a method, and the canvas draws your repo as a city at night with each affected journey lit up as a trail.

    logPhase pros and cons

    • Pro: analysis for Java, Kotlin, Python and TypeScript runs fully offline.
    • Pro: every diagram step links to real code rather than a chat-drawn sketch.
    • Pro: GitHub tokens stay in the macOS keychain.
    • Con: macOS only, and reviews require Claude Code, which sends what it reads to Anthropic.
    • Con: five languages for now, and C# needs the .NET SDK, about 250 MB, fetched once.

    logPhase features and use cases

•User journeys generated from a pull request, each drawn as a flow diagram.
•Code view of the method, branch and changed lines behind every step.
•Call graph of every method on a journey and the other journeys that share it.
•Code city canvas: services as districts, packages as pads, files as towers.
•Ask about any step and get an answer grounded in the method that implements it.
•Split to break a step into smaller ones and Clarify to request a plainer label.
•Read-only file viewer with go to definition and a callers list.
•Support for Java, Kotlin, C#, Python and TypeScript through native parsers.
•Local, offline analysis apart from a one-time .NET SDK download for C#.
•Private repository access with the GitHub token stored in the keychain.
•Use case: review an agent-written pull request before approving it.
•Use case: learn an inherited service by following the journeys its changes touch.

    How to use logPhase

1Download the macOS app (Apple Silicon or Intel build) from logphase.ai.
2On first launch, let it find your Claude Code and sign you in.
3Load the app's review plugin into Claude.
4Add GitHub access only if you need private repositories.
5Paste a pull request link so it clones and analyzes the repository.
6Walk through the user journeys and open the code behind each step.
7Ask, split or clarify steps and check the impact in the call graph and canvas.

    logPhase FAQ

    What is logPhase?

A Mac app that explains a pull request as user journeys, with flow diagrams linked to the exact code that changed.

    Is logPhase free?

You can use it at no charge for an initial period with no signup or card. What happens after that is covered in the pricing section of this listing.

Which programming languages does logPhase support?

Java, Kotlin, C#, Python and TypeScript, each read by its own parser: Spoon, Kotlin compiler PSI, Roslyn, Pyright and ts-morph.

Do I need Claude Code to use logPhase?

Yes for reviews: the app runs your own Claude Code in a terminal you can watch. The static analysis of the repository is done by the app itself.

Does my code leave my machine?

Analysis is local. Whatever Claude reads during a review goes to Anthropic, and the app also talks to your Git remotes and its update server.

Does logPhase run on Windows or Linux?

No. There are macOS builds only, one for Apple Silicon and one for Intel Macs.

    Does logPhase have an API?

The site does not mention a public API. It is a desktop app that works from GitHub pull request links.

    Does logPhase work in Spanish?

The site and app are in English. You can ask Claude about a step in Spanish, but the interface itself is not localized.

    What are some logPhase alternatives?

For AI pull request review, CodeRabbit and CodeAnt comment on the diff inside GitHub, and Claude Code can review changes from the terminal; all are on GptZone.

Does it work with private repositories?

Yes. Grant GitHub access during setup and the token is stored in the macOS keychain.
